On To The Picking Season
December to early March is filled with joy of picking season. "La Cosecha" (The crop). By 11 o'clock in the morning, the first families begin to bring their small sacks of coffee to the receiving station where the coffee is first hand cleaned and separated of any accidental green beans that might have been picked, because our mill only accepts fully ripened deep, dark red berries.
Once that is done they turn in the coffee for weighing and the coffee is then passed to the trucks where they are loaded by the strong arms and lusty shouts of the transportation crew. With a setting sun in the late afternoon, the trucks hit the dusty roads of Santa Leticia and with shimmering rays of an afternoon sun, the trucks are greeted by the mill workers. |
